HIGHER LOVE CANNABIS CO. - SASQUATCH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
VERSION No. 2
This character design is directly based off the sculpture. It is designed with just Archetype 6, as outlined in the Artist Brand Guide, in mind. Like the first version, I chose to make the skin blue, because it allows us to avoid a human race-likeness and plays into the other-worldly, supernatural appeal of the Sasquatch. To compliment that cool blue skin-tone, I opted to use a warm reddish-brown as the character’s fur color. Although this design is true to the real-life sculpture, I softened the expression on the face a bit.

HEAD-ONLY SPOT ILLUSTRATION
One element to this branded character design that I foresee being very useful, is a super dialed-in head-only spot illustration. Kind of like how the OBEY giant’s Andre is often seen as a head-only version, which lives in harmony with the original full body version from the “posse” stickers. The one color version below will also reduce in size very well. Because while any good vector illustration will blow up well to fit a billboard. The challenge with character art is making an illustration that will retain its likeness when it has to shrink down to fit on a tiny enamel pin, or gets laser etched onto the top of an aluminum grinder.

ADDITIONAL CHARACTER SKETCHES
These sketches are all based on the features and proportions of the sculpture reference, but they are not posed like the actual sculpture. These would ultimately be inked and vectored just like the finished vector art above. The goal here would be to expand on the character’s personality. Developing a sense of style and a vibe for our character that reinforces all of the key elements laid out in the overview on page two of the creative brief.
