HIGHER LOVE CANNABIS CO. - SASQUATCH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
VERSION No. 1
This character’s features are based on the real-life sculpture, but this design has the proportions and style of a modern cartoon mascot. So my intent is for this to fall directly in the middle between Archetype 3 and Archetype 6, as outlined in the Artist Brand Guide. I chose to make the skin blue, because it allows us to avoid a human race-likeness and plays into the other-worldly, supernatural appeal of the Sasquatch. To compliment that cool blue skin-tone, I opted to use a warm reddish-brown as the character’s fur color. This facial expression is content, happy, maybe a little stoned. I would consider it the “neutral” expression for this character design.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT & ADDITIONAL SKETCHES
One activity I wanted to dress our character for is gardening, or in our case cultivation! It’s directly related to the company’s mission. And it addresses in some part all of the key elements listed in the overview of the creative brief. Specifically; Connection to nature, Symbol of Independence, and Relatable/Approachable. I believe a logical brand correlation for this character to reinforce is the process of craft cannabis cultivation. I could Imagine our character here drawn too look like it is participating in each step along the way. With those illustrations being displayed at each customer touch point that they experience along that process.
